ASHEVILLE – A second person is facing several felony and misdemeanor charges in connection to a downtown Asheville shooting that left seven people struck with stray gunfire or bullet fragments on March 8.
Ashonta Foursha Basnight, 28, of Asheville, was charged March 19 with five counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon after police allege she shot a handgun multiple times into Lexington Avenue’s concrete sidewalk amid a large crowd, according to her arrest warrant. The shots caused “ricochet and fragmentation that struck the victim,” according to the warrant.
She’s also charged with three counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury for allegedly assaulting three people with a handgun, the warrant said…
