Norwood Cop Pulled Off Duty After Drunk-Driving Bust

A Norwood police officer is off the streets after being arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, town officials confirmed. The March 19 arrest has set in motion both a criminal OUI case and an internal affairs investigation inside the department.

According to the Boston Herald, the officer has been identified as Shawn Willman. Norwood police told the paper that Willman was arrested by fellow Norwood officers on March 19 and that a criminal OUI case is now pending. The department also confirmed it has launched an internal affairs review into the incident.

The Norwood Police Department serves about 28,000 residents with roughly 60 sworn officers, according to MapQuest. The agency oversees patrols and traffic enforcement across the town’s approximately 10 square miles.
