Coroner: Human bones found at Columbia home under renovation ‘likely historical in nature’

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Officials said human bones, likely hundreds of years old, were found at a Columbia home under renovation earlier this month.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office said the bones, along with animal bones, were discovered at a home on Kilbourne Road on March 12. Coroner Naida Rutherford said Monday that a DNA test determined the human bones “have no forensic value and are likely historical in nature.”
