Detroit man pleads guilty to $50K Boat Week damage

A Detroit man who reportedly took a car on a joy ride three years ago and caused $50,000 in damage in Port Huron during Boat Week has pleaded guilty.

As part of the March 16 plea agreement Kyle Mayhew, 33, pleaded guilty to unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle. His charge of malicious destruction of property valued over $20,000 was reduced to attempted malicious destruction of property.

Before his arrest in February, police had been searching for Mayhew nearly three years after his cell phone was found in a car that had reportedly been stolen and was damaged…
