Collapse of Davie Street parking deck to be used as training opportunity for Greensboro Fire Department, state rescue team

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A downtown parking deck will be collapsed as part of training for the Greensboro Fire Department.

According to the city of Greensboro, members of GFD’s urban search and rescue team, along with North Carolina USAR Task Force 6, will be conducting a structural collapse training exercise for March 25-27 at the Davie Street Parking Deck on Market Street.

They will use this to simulate a large-scale building collapse and coordinated rescue operations. This is being done after the parking deck was scheduled for demolition, “providing a valuable opportunity for Task Force 6 personnel to conduct realistic training in a controlled environment.”…
