HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville is becoming a standout hub for artificial intelligence jobs, according to a new analysis from CoworkingCafe. While coastal tech giants like Silicon Valley and New York dominate AI in sheer volume, Huntsville is carving out a niche for specialized, high-paying roles in the mid-sized metro category.
The study found that AI jobs in Huntsville are nearly five times more concentrated than the national average. Between November 2024 and late 2025, the city added 391 AI positions, with average salaries around $127,166. Strong digital infrastructure, including 62% fiber coverage, and a cost of living below the national average, make the city attractive for technical talent in aerospace, defense, and related industries.
Nationally, AI job growth remains concentrated in a handful of major metropolitan areas. Silicon Valley continues to lead in pay and AI concentration, with average salaries near $216,000, though living costs there are 13% above the national average.
