LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Demetrus Liggins is preparing for a public forum in Missouri as one of three finalists for a superintendent position in a school district outside St. Louis.

Nothing in Liggins’ current contract prevents him from leaving for another job. The termination of employment section of his contract lists four reasons for termination: if the contract term expires, if mutual parties agree to terminate, if he is released for cause, or if he retires.

No repercussions are listed for terminating a contract early. The contract runs through June 30, 2029.
