Bill to round cash purchases passes Alabama House

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Alabama’s House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday that would set a framework for rounding in-person cash transactions.

Late last year, the U.S. Mint stopped producing new pennies. According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve will keep circulating the roughly 114 billion pennies that are floating around the country. However, no new pennies will be added.
