Man won’t be prosecuted in attack triggered by wait for bathroom at Spanish Springs

A man won’t be prosecuted in an attack triggered by a wait for using a bathroom at a restaurant in Spanish Springs Town Square in The Villages.

Charles Anthony Gunn, 56, of Leesburg, will not face prosecution on a felony charge of battery, according to an announcement from the prosecutor’s office. State Attorney Bill Gladson announced that an investigation revealed “that this case is not suitable for prosecution.”

Gunn went into Americano’s restaurant at about 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 where he wanted to use a restroom, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Gunn found that the restroom door was closed because a restaurant staffer was trying to fix a broken paper towel dispenser. Gunn banged on the door, prompting the restaurant employee to open the door and inform Gunn that more time would be required to fix the paper towel dispenser. Gunn became belligerent and began using loud, profane language…
