CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The family of a man who was killed in a crash last August has filed a lawsuit against the city of Chula Vista, saying the city was aware of the dangerous conditions of the specific intersection and did not address safety concerns.
The crash occurred on Aug. 11, 2025, in the area of Telegraph Canyon Road and Apache Drive.
Juanito and Melba Muyco, along with their friends Michael and Josefina Baril, were in a Subaru Forester heading home from church, the lawsuit stated. Michael Baril was behind the wheel.
The Forester was headed east on Telegraph Canyon Road. When Baril started a left turn onto Apache Drive, the SUV was struck by a speeding Ford Mustang that was traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road, police said in an earlier news release…
