Investigators search for cause of Midler Ave fire

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Fire investigators are trying to understand what caused a reported fire at 145 South Midler Avenue last Friday. This is the second vacant home in Syracuse damaged by a fire in the same week.

It was around 7:49 p.m. when firefighters arrived at the scene, a 2½-story home with visible smoke. No victims were found, but crews identified floor holes and structural instability that required caution.

Fire conditions were spotted on both the first and second floors toward the rear of the building. The bulk of the fire was brought under control within 25 minutes and declared fully extinguished in under 50 minutes…
