Marine veteran receives mortgage-free home in Buda

BUDA, Texas — A U.S. Marine Corps veteran received the keys to a mortgage-free home in Buda last week through a partnership between Bank of America and the Military Warriors Support Foundation.

Sgt. Luis Valadez, who was born in Mexico and raised in Fort Worth, served as a field artillery cannoneer from 2004 to 2009. He deployed to Japan and Iraq, where he was wounded in combat and earned the Combat Action Ribbon and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

He and his wife and two children will make Buda their new home.

The home presentation took place Thursday as part of Bank of America’s Homes4WoundedHeroes program, which partners with the Military Warriors Support Foundation to donate mortgage-free properties to veterans injured in service to the country…
