Driver accused of killing 2 women in Crosby County booked into LCDC

LUBBOCK, Texas — The driver in Saturday’s fatal collision that killed two people in Crosby County has been charged and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

According to DPS, 49-year-old Luis Alejandro Poot-Sosa was driving with 52-year-old Yrma Linda Reyes-Chavez and 60-year-old Irene Ramirez-Reyes on County Road 105. While on the road, Poot-Sosa stopped and all the occupants got out of the vehicle to engage in a physical altercation.

Following this altercation, Poot-Sosa left the scene and the other occupants behind. When he returned to pick them up, he fatally struck Reyes-Chavez and Ramirez-Reyes with the vehicle. He was then assaulted by the family of the victims before DPS arrived. He was transported to UMC by EMS for treatment.

According to jail records, Poot-Sosa was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on Monday, March 23. He remains in jail on a bond totaling $500,000…
