A west-side Fox River homeowner urged Oswego trustees Monday to reject a riverfront bike path concept she said could disrupt private property, threaten safety near Route 31 and create uncertainty for families who live along Etzinger Road and nearby riverfront parcels.
Cindy Smith raised the issue during public comment, telling trustees her remarks were in response to a proposal discussed at the previous Village Board meeting on Tuesday, March 3. She said resident John Brodemus had suggested extending a bike path from the east side of the Fox River, across the bridge and north along the west side of the river.
Smith said she contacted Brodemus after that March 3 meeting because she wanted to better understand what he had in mind. Based on those conversations, she told trustees the idea could place a path near or through private residential properties on the west side of the river, including her own property and others owned by longtime residents…
