The FCC has approved the move of the 100.7 FM translator (W264DB) for WFAX (AM 1220) from Falls Church to Manassas, clearing the way for a significant signal upgrade across Northern Virginia. They will relocate from the WFAX–AM tower on Hillwood Ave in Falls Church to a tower on Robert Carter Road in Fairfax Station, with a change in community of license to Manassas.
As first reported on DCRTV back in February, the move includes a notable technical boost. The translator will increase power from 100 watts to 220 watts and raise the antenna height from 75 meters to 140 meters. That combination of higher power and increased elevation is expected to dramatically improve coverage, particularly across Prince William County. The red circle shows the new coverage:
