Man Dies After Taser Deployment During Domestic Call in Richmond County

HEPHZIBAH, Georgia – An investigation is underway after a man died following a law enforcement encounter during a domestic violence call in Richmond County.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:08 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, to the 4200 block of James Drive.

When deputies arrived, they located the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Aaron McElroy, and attempted to take him into custody. Authorities said McElroy was non-compliant, and a Taser was deployed…
