A countywide burn ban is now in effect across Durham County starting Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6 a.m. The ban was issued by the Durham County Office of Emergency Services Fire Marshal Division because of dry conditions and increased fire danger.
The ban applies to all outdoor burning—including recreational fires, campfires, and burning of natural vegetation—in areas outside municipal city limits. Burning trash is always prohibited. Fire departments have the authority to extinguish any outdoor fires during this period…
