Developer seeks tax break for $2.1M Grand Rapids redevelopment

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Grand Rapids City Commission is set to hold a public hearing March 31 to consider a tax incentive for a redevelopment project at 801 Oakdale St. SE.

The Gideon Project LLC plans to invest about $2.1 million to rehabilitate four connected commercial buildings near the corner of Oakdale Street SE and Eastern Avenue SE, according to a city memo. The redevelopment would create two ground‑floor commercial spaces, a community space and two apartments on the second floor.
