MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Community members pressed leaders with New Directions of Horry County and the city of Myrtle Beach about a proposed women’s homeless shelter during Monday’s neighborhood watch meeting.
People who live off Mr. Joe White Avenue surrounding the proposed site said they are not happy about potentially having more homeless people near their houses, parks, and families.
“We have to deal with the homeless you don’t take in, and that’s what we’re saying,” one resident said. “Nobody is saying that we’re not for sheltering the homeless; what we’re saying is we don’t want you to keep sheltering in our community.”…
