‘Some people on the flight will never make it home’: Wilmington attorney stranded after collision at LaGuardia Airport

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Officials say an Air Canada regional jet collided with a Port Authority fire-rescue truck at LaGuardia Airport late Sunday night, killing the pilot and co-pilot and injuring dozens of others.

Wilmington-based attorney Sherman Criner said he was returning from a conference in New Orleans and was supposed to fly back to Wilmington International Airport (ILM) with a connection through LaGuardia.

Criner said delays began before he even left Louisiana, with long lines and limited staffing creating a slow-moving scene at the New Orleans airport…
