TOLEDO, Ohio — The removal of several mature trees along Harrow Road in west Toledo has renewed frustration among neighbors months after a sidewalk project first sparked backlash in the area.
The tree cutting began in October, when residents said they were surprised to see crews cutting down trees for a new sidewalk — part of a Safe Routes to School project funded through the Ohio Department of Transportation – after being told construction would not begin until the following year.
