Wichita group works to honor forgotten WWI Medal of Honor aviator

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Wichita group is working to bring a memorial to the city for one of its most decorated veterans.

Erwin Bleckley, a native son of Wichita, fought as an Aviator during World War I. He flew during one of the most pivotal battles during the war in the Meuse-Argonne offensive.

His last mission would come during this battle, where he and another pilot flew low to help pinpoint German positions in an attempt to locate a lost battalion…
