Nevada’s state climatologist warns of ‘uncharted territory’ as snowpack drops to historic lows

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Last week was the warmest on record for several western states. Nevada shattered heat records on five consecutive days.

The combination of record heat and dry conditions could lead to unprecedented problems across the region.

Snowpack at record lows

“It’s at a record low and dropping fast. It’s 48% of the median. And the lower Colorado is at 20% of median. Again, record low,” said Dr. Baker Perry, Nevada’s state climatologist.
