KCFD crews battle fire involving three trailers near Mojave church

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Firefighters battled an overnight blaze that engulfed three travel trailers in the Mojave area, facing a limited water supply and hazardous downed power lines as they worked to keep the flames from spreading to a nearby church.

At about 3:26 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Kern County Fire Department said firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 8900 block of Lone Butte Road.

Engine 15’s crew arrived to find three travel trailers fully involved. A small church and additional trailers nearby were at risk, prompting firefighters to deploy multiple hose lines to contain the fire, protect nearby structures, and confirm no people were inside the involved trailers.

Fire operations were complicated by a limited water supply, with the nearest hydrant about three miles away. About 10 minutes into the incident, downed power lines created additional hazards and further complicated suppression efforts…
