At Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, 13-year-old North American river otter Miles received advanced dental and arthritis treatment. After a scan revealed an infected canine tooth and arthritis in his right knee, the veterinary team, assisted by Dr. Turner of Veterinary Dental Referral Services and Dr. Valerie Johnson from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, performed a tooth extraction and administered otter stem cells to support his joint health. The new Delta Dental of Michigan Animal Treatment Room enabled the procedure onsite. Miles is recovering well under continued care.
