(KRON) — Grisly new details are emerging in a homicide that took place in Lafayette over the weekend. The suspect, 35-year-old David Swank Prince of Chico, killed the victim with a hatchet.
That’s according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office which announced Tuesday that Prince has been charged with murder. Prince, a Butte County resident, is accused of taking the life of 34-year-old Christopher Jaber unlawfully and with malice aforethought, the DA said.

Police were alerted to the situation on Saturday around 11:30 a.m. when a relative of Jaber called 911 to report a suspicious person with a hatchet in the backyard of their property. The caller, according to the DA, told dispatchers that the person was breaking into an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) where Jaber lived.
When the Lafayette Police Department arrived, they found Prince a short distance away from the ADU where he was detained and arrested. According to the DA, the murder appears to be a “targeted act.”…
