Rockford committee advances update to 2040 Future Land Use Map

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Planning and Development Committee voted Monday night to advance an update to the city’s 2040 Future Land Use Map, clearing the way for a full City Council vote in early April.

The approval followed more than an hour of discussion and a packed public comment period dominated by concerns over environmental impacts, farmland conversion, and the possibility of a massive data center project south of Chicago Rockford International Airport.
