San Antonio police say man who stabbed ex’s new boyfriend who was getting kids from YMCA is arrested

A month after a stabbing at an East Side YMCA, police have arrested a man they say attacked his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, who authorities say was led to the facility by his children’s mother to pick up the kids.

On Sunday, police arrested 27-year-old Abel Ali Rivas on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He was in custody Tuesday at the Bexar County jail with total bail set at $105,000.

The children’s mother, 31-year-old Melanie Sierra Gomez, was arrested days after the stabbing. She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released from jail March 4 after posting $85,000 in total bond…
