British 3D Printing Specialist to Launch Large-Scale Facility in Houston

DEEP Manufacturing, a British specialist in Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and hybrid manufacturing solutions, plans to launch an advanced manufacturing facility in Houston.

The company stated that the 50,000-square-foot site would bring large-scale additive manufacturing closer to customers in the energy, defense and maritime sectors. It will house four WAAM robotic systems at launch, with additional systems planned throughout the year, including capabilities for post-processing and inspection as the plant continues to scale.

DEEP Manufacturing announced that the Houston team recently completed its first prints. The company expects to officially launch the facility on May 6, when visitors will see examples of its printing capability, including a mock-up of a new pressure-rated vessel set to be certified to DNV standards. It will also display other WAAM-produced components manufactured in carbon steel and nickel-based alloys.
