Crews removing massive piles of debris from Waialua flood damage

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu County crews said they – along with state workers – are working to clear mud and debris from the heaviest hit areas in Waialua. The city says its primary focus is infrastructure like clearing roads, waterways and storm drains, to get everything operational again.

Floods devastate North Shore, recovery efforts underway

The massive pile of debris in Waialua seems to be never-ending as residents drop truckloads of trash one by one from the two weekends of storms. While city crews are working as quickly as they can to move the debris from Waialua, Residents are cleaning up what they can so they can get to the next step

“Now we’re rebuilding,” said Andy Fremming, Waialua resident. “We just took the drywall out, got rid of the mold before it sets in, and it pushed the back wall out. Just gotta figure it out.”
