CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A massive sinkhole that opened up in a Cranston neighborhood earlier this month is still causing headaches for the city and residents alike.
Cranston Department of Public Works Director Frank Corrao told 12 News the sinkhole on Thunder Trail is believed to be caused by a broken underground drainage pipe.

Corrao explained that the drainage pipe is blocked by debris, which is causing the water to flow back up onto the street.
“We’ve put a pump in the ground to try to maintain the river flow and bypass the blockage … so we can keep the water off the road,” Corrao said…
