  • Friday and Sunday, 3/27 and 3/29 — “Hansel and Gretel” presented by Opera Roanoke and the Botetourt Music Academy at the Jefferson Center’s Shaftman Performance Hall (541 Luck Ave., Roanoke). Experience the wonder of opera through a story you know and love. The classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale is brought to life with lush music, colorful staging, and a touch of magic. ($)

  • 5:30 to 8 p.m. — Parenting the Love and Logic Way presented by Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine (4348 Electric Rd., Roanoke, in the Mill Mountain Room). For parents and guardians of children of any age. Parenting is certainly rewarding but it can also be frustrating. Raising happy, healthy, and well-adjusted children can sometimes seem overwhelming. Join fellow singles 40+ for The BiblioPub’s bi-weekly bash where laughter flows as freely as the drinks. Meet new people, swap stories, and maybe find your co-author for the next adventure.   • 7 p.m. — Women’s History Month Film Festival: “100 Yen Love” at the Grandin Theatre (1310 Grandin Rd. SW, Roanoke). A 32-year-old woman living with her parents meets a boxer and finally starts a life.
  • 7 to 11 p.m. — Open Mic at The Front Row (356 Salem Ave., Roanoke). Whether you’re a poet, musician, comedian, or just have something to say, this is your chance to shine.

Thursday, March 26

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Daisy Art Parade Workshop with Jane Gabrielle at the Keeley Healing Arts Open Studio at Melrose Plaza. Join artists from across the valley in building for the Daisy Art Parade.
  • 4 to 6 p.m. — Meet the artist: Crystal Wolfe at Blue Ridge PBS (1215 McNeil Dr., Roanoke). Stop by to meet Crystal Wolfe, learn more about her work, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon surrounded by art. Guests will have the opportunity to chat with the artist and experience her pieces up close.

This workshop is open to folks of all ages who want to support the neighborhood Daisy Art Parade. The theme is All You Need Is LOVE!!! This workshop will be led by Molly Kernan, Artist in residence for the South East Neighborhood. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
