Throughout April 2026, the Shrewsbury Police Department will have extra officers on patrol to enforce the state’s Hands-Free Law, which bans holding or using a phone while driving — even when stopped in traffic. Some officers will work in plain clothes to spot violations and alert nearby patrols.
