Shreveport abuser found guilty for domestic violence crimes

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Shreveport man was found guilty of multiple domestic violence offenses, including strangling a dating partner, battering a dating partner with child endangerment, and 15 counts of violating protective orders.

According to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office, on March 18, 2026, after just one hour of deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous verdict for 36-year-old Lazavieyon Rashad Thomas.

The three-day trial, presided over by District Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr., revealed evidence of abuse, including visible injuries sustained by the victim, such as bruising on her neck and arm, along with hair torn from her head during the assault. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office noted that the incident also occurred in the presence of a minor child.

On February 28, 2025, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene after the victim experienced difficulty breathing.
