Ada County Sheriff issues statement on Idaho immigration bill proposal

BOISE, IDAHO (CBS2) — Ada County Sheriff Matt Clifford has put out a statement on legislation that would have required local police and county sheriff’s offices in Idaho to partner with federal immigration officials.

House Bill 659 would have required local and county law enforcement to apply for a 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The agreements allow local agencies to work with ICE enforcement and hold immigrants in jail who face deportation.
