14-year-old McKenna Wendel was last seen alive in Sioux Falls on Friday, March 13th. Nearly a week later, authorities recovered her body just east of Brookings. An autopsy took place on Monday. Despite no charges being filed in Wendel’s death, police say there is no threat to the public.

The mayor of Sturgis has resigned due to health reasons. A news release says Mayor Kevin Forrester was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last fall. Forrester sent a letter to the city council notifying them that his resignation is effective immediately…
