SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A road construction project set to begin this spring may have bikers and walkers on the South Hill excited.
Crews will be adding sidewalks to the stretch of road along the eastside of Crestline between 57th and 63rd Avenue. Besides making it safer for bicyclists and pedestrians, there could be another benefit that would make neighbors happy: people driving slower through the neighborhood.
“Hopefully narrowing the road will slow people down a bit,” said Becky Spangle, construction program manager. “Usually just changing the speed limit or expecting people to drive slower doesn’t often work.”…
