Real McCoy Beer Co. blames architect, builder for Slip 12 brewpub failure

ALBANY — Real McCoy Beer Co. is fighting a lawsuit from the landlord of what was to have been its flagship brewpub at Slip 12 in Albany by adding the architect and contractor who built the brewpub to the suit, claiming their cost overruns and two-year delays resulted in $3.3 million in losses for Real McCoy and owner Mike Bellini.

All Real McCoy locations — including the original in Delmar, the second in Ballston Spa and Slip 12 — are now closed.

The legal action, filed Friday in state Supreme Court in Albany, alleges that Bellini hired Cotler Architecture of Latham four years ago this month for architectural and engineering services for the brewpub, and later in 2022 engaged Northeastern Construction Services of Colonie to design and build it. The contract called for NCS to complete the work within 95 days, or by Feb. 10, 2023, for about $800,000, according to the suit…
