Shenendehowa CSD appoints first female superintendent

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Shenendehowa Central School District has appointed its first woman superintendent. At Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting, the board appointed Dr. Cecily Wilson-Turner as its new leader, effective immediately.

“Dr. Wilson-Turner is a highly qualified and experienced leader who understands the needs and priorities of our district,” said Board of Education President Deanna Stephenson. “Her appointment is a reflection of her exceptional track record and our confidence that she will continue to advance our mission. We are certain she will unify and inspire our district, ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and prepared for success.”

Wilson-Turner first joined the district in 2023 as Deputy Superintendent and became the district’s interim superintendent when longtime superintendent L. Oliver Robinson retired in 2025. Her experience in schools, however, spans over 25 years with teaching and leadership experiences.

According to the district, her appointment follows a lengthy search process that included community feedback, an online survery and 22 community forums. District leaders said selecting her embodied the communty’s desire for a student-centered and approachable leader…
