NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department is asking the community for prayers for K-9 Joker after his melanoma returned and is now terminal.
The department said Joker was diagnosed with melanoma in 2025. A tumor was removed, treatment was completed and follow-up scans showed no signs of cancer.
Police said they learned within the past week that the cancer had returned aggressively and was spreading quickly, leading to a diagnosis that it is terminal and untreatable.
