Dauphin County man pleads guilty to role in fraudulently obtaining $2.5 million in pandemic unemployment assistance funds

PHILADELPHIA — A Dauphin County man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to fraudulently obtaining emergency funds meant for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, prosecutors said.

Ardavan Alamoutinia, 33, of Hummelstown, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, 10 counts of mail fraud, one count of theft of government money, and one count of aggravated identity theft before U.S. District Judge Juan R. Sánchez at a hearing in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
