Grandville Public Schools announces next superintendent

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grandville Public Schools has chosen its next superintendent.

Following an interview Tuesday evening, the Grandville Board of Education selected John Philo — who is currently listed as GPS’ assistant superintendent of human resources — for the role, the district announced in a social media post. Contract negotiations are pending.

“Philo is a familiar leader in Grandville, with a deep understanding of our schools, our people and the responsibility that comes with this role,” GPS wrote. “He knows this school community and is ready to lead it forward with a focus on what matters most: our students.”

Grandville superintendent retiring after 11 years

Philo has experience in classroom teaching, school leadership and human resources, according to the district.

He is expected to start this summer, after Superintendent Roger Bearup’s retirement takes effect…
