A 24-year-old man was convicted Wednesday of fatally shooting a friend in Irvine in a plot to steal a bag of fentanyl pills from him.
Noah Emmanuel Farmer was convicted of first-degree murder, and jurors found true a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, along with sentencing enhancements for discharge of a gun causing death and the personal use of a gun. Jurors deadlocked 6-6 on a special circumstance allegation of murder during a robbery.
