Volunteer helps to ‘give kids the world’

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — For critically ill children, the possibility of taking a weeklong vacation with their families may seem impossible. A local nonprofit and thousands of Central Florida volunteers like Everyday Hero Donna Miller make it a little easier for those children and their families, providing the entire vacation for free.

Children gleefully ride on a majestic 100-year-old carousel, the air is filled with laughter, and their faces are lit with smiles. All of it is thanks to people like Miller who are dedicated to bringing joy to families through volunteering with Give Kids the World.

“They are the heroes. The kids are the heroes, the fact that what they are going through, and they still have a smile on their face,” she said. “And they get to come here, this village. It’s like family; everybody is.”…
