Woodford County High School choir stranded at LaGuardia after deadly crash

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – Woodford County High School choir’s trip to perform in New York City ended with an extended stay at LaGuardia Airport after Sunday night’s deadly runway crash.

The choir performed at Carnegie Hall and attended Broadway shows before arriving at LaGuardia around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday for their flight home.

“Some of these students had never been to New York before, so this was a great experience for them,” said Susan Strange, a Woodford County High School parent chaperoning the trip.

Flight delays follow deadly crash

Strange said the group moved through TSA quickly, only to learn their flight was delayed after reaching their gate. The delays stemmed from Sunday night’s crash, when a plane collided with a fire truck on one of the airport’s runways, killing the pilot and co-pilot. The crash shut down operations at the airport…
