MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW) — Two witnesses who filmed a chaotic car fire in Murrells Inlet this weekend — including one who alerted the driver — are talking about the experience.
“We’re just going down to the Inlet, and we’re going over the bridge on 17, and we see the car on fire,” Tyler Weifert said. “So, we were just curious, went to go look at it, pulled over. I was recording the vehicle burning because I thought it was going to blow up. And then there was an altercation in the road between a woman and a guy in a minivan and, oddly enough, he pulled out a weapon because she was trying to direct him around the car burning, and he got aggressive, pulled a gun out. They spoke some words back and forth, and then he heard the sirens coming, got in his van and went on his way.”
Weifert lives in Murrells Inlet and says what may have sounded like gunshots were the woman’s tires popping from the fire…
