NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman was robbed Tuesday in East Nashville by a man armed with a machete, according to court documents.
Officers spoke with the 26-year-old victim, who said she was visiting Nashville from out of town. She told investigators she was heading downtown around 9:45 a.m., walking down Shelby Avenue near South 2nd Street, when she was approached by a man with a machete who demanded her cowboy boots, purse and wallet.

Documents said investigators identified the suspect as Fred Johnson, 31, using footage of the robbery from community safety cameras. He was found in the 600 block of South 2nd Street wearing the same clothes seen in the footage, aside from a black jacket, which was later found in a trash can with the victim’s purse.
At the time of his arrest, Johnson had $70 in cash, which matched the amount reported stolen with the victim’s wallet. Metro police said he told detectives he needed cash for drugs.
The victim positively identified Johnson, and he was booked into Metro jail on multiple charges, including felony aggravated robbery, misdemeanor public intoxication, evading arrest and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $83,500…
