ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A house fire in Escambia County killed two cats and left a home destroyed.

According to a Facebook post from the Escambia County Fire Rescue, units E6, E1, SQ3, E7, L12, and BC3 were called to a house in the 50 block of East Detroit Boulevard for a structure fire on Monday, March 23, at around 6:28 p.m.

Before arriving, the units were made aware that there were two cats that were still inside the home. When they arrived, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the home.

While one group began dousing the home with water, another group went inside to search for the missing cats.

Though the fire was put out by 6:41 p.m., the two cats were later found dead in the home. There were no other reported injuries.
