After 50 years of decay, the Roebling building along Mott Street started to collapse on itself, which has led to the start of demolition this week.
It was from this building and others like it within the complex that John Roebling manufactured the steel wire rope as it would be called, that he and his son, Washington Roebling, would use to hold up the Brooklyn Bridge.
