New car seat safety guidelines taking effect this year

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is updating federal standards to improve how car seats are tested.

For many years, manufacturers have tested car seats for front or rear-end crashes. Now, the NHTSA is mandating a standardized side impact crash test for all car seats.
